Getting an apartment in Dublin

The main source for apartment listings in Dublin is Daft.ie. There are, supposedly, other listings in the newspapers, but the most effective and current source is Daft.

Most apartments in Dublin are rented furnished. There are also virtually no apartment buildings where one management company is responsible for unit rentals. Most apartments are owned by private landlords and they either post it themselves or hire a letting agent to take care of it.

You will need to have a bank account to get an apartment. If you have no previous history in the country, be prepared to put down a larger deposit. Having just arrived in Dublin in 2009, the size of our deposit was 3 times the monthly payment.

I would advise against renting an apartment from Craigslist, for the fear of scams, but some may argue otherwise.
